It’s hard to believe that my little guy just turned 7!
My youngest is always coming up with new ideas and ways to spend money! I got a little overwhelmed before his birthday due to all of his wants for his special day. What’s a mom to do? I put him on a budget! {Keep in mind this “party” is really just for our family – 10 people total with 4 kids.}
Budget: $10 (I know it doesn’t seem like much, but he was thrilled).
Mom and Dad: pizza, cupcakes, and balloons
Step-by-Step
1. I gathered all of the fun ideas together first on Pinterest (virtual bulletin board). He loved the lego chocolate toppers, but realized that it was too much for his budget. He decided to make them instead, so we downloaded them fromSkip to My Lou.
2. Go to the Dollar Store. When we arrived, he said, “Does everything really just cost one dollar here?” I said, “Yes! That’s the best part about shopping at the Dollar Store!” Off we went skipping through the aisles – not really but you get the picture. It was easy for him to add up how much he was spending and throw a few extra items in there too. (we also had to hit Target and Michaels – see shopping list below)
3. Make it yourself! The pinata, Lego Bingo, and cupcake toppers were made by the birthday boy. In the next post I’ll share what Cindy at Skip to My Lou gave my boy for free and wants to share with you too!
4. Have a delighted boy. Since he did a lot of the planning, it turned out just the way he wanted it!
