Is your child or student ready to stop using their “Reader Finger”, but still needs something to hold their place when reading? Using a Reading Tracker (I call them “sliders”) allows students to track the words across the page. Since the trackers are transparent, readers can see the upcoming text on the page.
From my experience, I’ve found that children enjoy using trackers when reading. It allows their eyes to take a little break when they’re reading and really focus on the words. Most of all, it also improves reading fluency (reading quickly, accurately, and expressively).
How to use a Reading Tracker:
The student places the tracker UNDER the line of text they are reading. Slide it down at the end of every line.
How to make a Reading Tracker:
Supplies: Avery Plastic Dividers (click here). Look at all the fun colors!
Using a paper cutter, cut them 1.5″ x 7″ long (approximately). You can cut about 7 out of an 8.5 x 11 sheet.
