Jennisse and I have been friends since our early days in MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) with little ones.  She’s been doing points for 2 summers.  She figured out early that her kids love to earn a lot of points.  So, she’s setting their sites on 30,000 points this summer.  You read that right:

Whoa!  Love it!  So much fun!

One thing you should know about Jennisse, is that she is from Puerto Rico and bi-lingual.  How cool!

Her main areas of focus this summer are Spanish reading and writing, chapter book reading (English), and swimming.  Here’s her BIG point list:

5 points – slide rides
10 points  – math worksheets
10 points  – penmanship sheets
10 points – laps in the pool
25 points – listening to a Spanish book on CD
100 points – every “approved” library chapter book read
200 points – reading a simple Spanish book to mom
500 points – creating “Tales of Summer” book with pictures

She also uses it as a tool to encourage good behavior and gives “mommy-wards” too!

See how much fun that is?  I could just add a 0 to everything I’m already doing and it makes it seem so much more fun!  Kids love big numbers and are very motivated by them!  It also incorporates math skills with larger numbers.  Thanks for sharing Jennisse – this is awesome!
