Make your own LEGO t-shirt? Yes! It’s possible!
LEGO t-shirts with a Freezer Paper Stencil? Wait, you haven’t tried crafting with freezer paper? That’s okay, I hadn’t either and now I’m hooked. If you’re heading to LEGOLAND, then you’ll need these shirts!
We’ve been to both the California and Florida LEGOLANDS. You can read our tips here and here.
Looking for another LEGO shirt or you’re more of a LEGO Star Wars fan? We made an awesome DIY Yoda Glow-in-the-Dark shirt.
Special thanks to Miriam for the photos above. Doesn’t her son look so happy and her family amazing in their shirts? Her family received little trinkets at LEGOLAND for wearing matching shirts! She has more tips for what to wear to an amusement park on page 2 of this post.
I love this shirt because the stencil can be made with a simple household staple… freezer paper. I don’t think I’ve ever used freezer paper for food, but it’s fun to have for stencils and looks really pretty wrapped around a bouquet of flowers.
Materials for LEGO t-shirt:
- yellow t-shirt
- matte fabric paint
- foam brush
- freezer paper
- LEGO face stencil (click here for link)
- a piece of cardboard or thick paper to go inside the shirt
- iron
What to wear at Amusement parks, the Stencil, and Directions can all be found on Page 2.

Lego t-shirt???? You are amazing!! 🙂
This is awesome! great job!
I have a question about how they held up after time. Did the paint run or fade after being washed the first time or does this paint last through a few washes? How long did they last? Also if the paint does fade, is it possible to do “touch ups” and just repaint the fading spots? Do you have any other Lego stencils for shirts?
I love this idea and I think my son will too 🙂 I am so glad I came across your site!!!!
Thank you to anyone who can answer my question!!
Thanks Jessica! I wish I had more stencils. They are so fun. These shirts have held up really well. I think our original ones are 2 years old now and they’re still kicking around. You can just touch up spots if needed. We made them in bright orange so that we could find our kids when we were traveling. I hope you have a lot of success!
great tips, and I love to make my own shirts, sometimes I get lost half without knowing how to decorate, simply loved your idea, I will apply here, thanks!
These are so cute! What a good idea for traveling. Thank you for sharing this quick and easy craft!
Did you wash the shirts prior to painting on them?
