Looking for REAL advice for your Middle School boy before he starts school?

Are you looking for REAL advice for your middle school boy before he starts school? I’ve written about tween boy hygiene tips and getting organized for school, but nothing tells the truth like this one. This advice comes straight from a real 7th grader who just finished his first year of middle school. I’ve also added some Mom notes at the bottom to encourage YOU too.

The best way to appreciate this post is to read it aloud to your son. This is real advice for boys, by BOYS.

Real Advice for Middle School Boys

Gym Class Tips for Middle School Boys

Change Quickly: Keep looking down and do not stare. Never ask the gym teacher, “What are we doing today?” They hate that question!

Gym Uniforms: Make sure you wash your gym uniform each week. Purchase more than one set of uniforms just in case you forget to bring it home. (Great tip!)

Middle School Lunch Advice

Pack Your Lunch: Always pack your lunch because cafeteria food is fake and gross.

Claim Your Table: Make sure you get your group of friends and claim your table. Once your table is claimed, it should be yours for the rest of the year.

Middle School Locker Tips

Skip the Coat: Don’t bother wearing a coat even on the coldest days; it will not fit in your locker.

Avoid Overdecorating: Don’t go crazy decorating your locker or put mirrors, lights, carpet, etc., in your locker.

Surviving the School Bus

Stay Low-Key: Try not to be noticed on the bus; you don’t want the bus driver to know who you areFind a Friend: Find a friend and just keep quiet.

Band Class Etiquette

Play in Turn: Don’t play out of turn on purpose; it’s not a good way to get on your teacher’s good side.

Exploring Middle School Clubs

Try New Activities: Don’t be afraid to try a new club or activity. Who knew you’d like the Talent Show?

Handling the Principal

Stay Under the Radar: Ignore the principal as much as possible. Don’t look at them or say hi, because then they will stop you and ask for your name. For the rest of the year, when they see you, they will say, “Hey __(your name)_!” and all the kids will think you have been in trouble before, which is why the principal knows you.

Mom Notes: Encouragement for You

Middle school is a big transition, and it’s important for your son to feel prepared and supported. Reading these tips aloud to him can help ease some of his anxiety and give him practical advice to navigate his new environment. Remember, your support and encouragement are invaluable during this time.

Note to moms: Middle school boys like to wear shorts all winter long too!
