Is that a Pool Noodle Sculpture?
Well, yes it is. 🙂 Sculpture and design are fun for children to participate in. Learning how to make a pool noodle sculpture is simple and low cost. Adding curly pool noodles to it, just adds a fun dimension and gets people asking, “How did you do that?”

We were first drawn to curly pool noodles when I saw this sculpture (below) at my school’s Book Fair. How fabulous is this? It’s perfect for an Under the Sea theme. It truly knocked everyone’s socks off. Such a fun display that drew children in and got them excited about the Book Fair.
I had to ask the librarian made these awesome pool noodles. She told me and we did a tutorial, click here to learn how you can make your own. I was now inspired to try to make my own! I honestly felt a little guilty cutting into my pool noodles.
We used the curly noodles to make our own sculpture. We used red, white, and blue to make it a festive patriotic centerpiece. We’ve had it on display in our house for a month and it still looks good.
Supplies for Pool Noodle Sculpture:
Curly Pool Noodles (click here for directions), scissors, box, paper
1. First we covered a box and cut holes into the box to pull the pool noodles through.
2. Then the kids worked on pushing the pieces through the wrapped box. Nothing fancy, just freeform sculpture.
3. To make it look more festive we added skewers with white stars to the sculpture. Anything goes!
4. Now we keep an eye out for interesting uses of pool noodles wherever we go! The photo below was taken at an art festival. I’m pretty sure they special ordered these super long noodles. What an amazing sculpture!
Let me know if you see any awesome uses of Pool Noodles around!
