How To Make Giant Bubbles
We tried our hand at GIANT BUBBLES!
I’ve always wanted to attempt them, but one thing stood in my way…. Glycerin!
I had no idea where to find it, how to purchase it, or what to do! So, I would always bypass a Giant Bubble recipe.
Where to buy Glycerin?
Guess what? Wilton (cake decorating) makes Glycerin! It jumped right out at me in the craft store!
Local craft stores sell it or it can be found here on Amazon.
Also it can be found in the first aid aisle of most supermarkets.

Giant Bubble Recipe
Materials for GIANT BUBBLES:
- 6 Cups Water
- 1/2 cup Dish Soap*
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 1 TBSP Baking POWDER
- 1 TBSP Glycerin**
What I have found works best but you can use any brand you have available…
**Wilton Glycerin can be found in cake decorating sections of craft stores too.
Mix-it-up
I used a large dishpan. Slowly mix the ingredients together and avoid getting too much air or small bubbles in it.
Then let it sit for 1-3 hours. The cornstarch is a little funny, but somehow it works!
We used powdered cornstarch. It settles in the bottom, but you just stir it up every so often.
Be patient with the solution, it will work and you’ll love it.
Please note: Bubbles work best on humid or damp days.
DIY Bubble Wand
We used simple straw and string to make our bubble wands.
Just two straws and a length of string tied in a large circle.
Hold onto the straws and dip the entire thing in to the bubble solution.
Slowly pull it out and blow or move through the air.
Another Fun Bubble Trick
Do you love bubbles?
No need to have a bubble wand then. Put some bubble mix in a cup and blow it up with a straw!
I’ll never forget going on vacation one summer as a child with a BIG bubble kit. So much fun!

Followed the recipe. I even let it set over night. Appears everything has settled on the bottom of the container……is that how it’s supposed to be? I tried making some bubbles but it didn’t work:/
This recipe didnt work for me. maybe because I am in South Lousiana and it is so hot?
How long do the batch of bubbles keep?
I made some of this and the bubbles almost always pop instantly 🙁
So exactly how safe is it for my 4 legged kid who is obsessed with bubbles and will definitely be eating them? Lol! He stalks them from the pop-ups in the pool and snorkels for hours. Of course we make him take breaks, but the vet wasn’t overly concerned about the chlorine. Everyone knows dish soap can cause some icky stomach issues. Is it watered down enough not to worry? Thx!

Gosh! This is such a good question. In my opinion, the bubbles don’t have that much soap in them. I just wouldn’t let him drink the contents directly!
That’s amazing! How fun. We used to buy edible bubbles when my son was young because he was the same way. They’re great. Somehow the bubbles don’t pop as quickly as the soap ones so they’re easier to catch and eat! I had to try a few myself. Ha
Now that we have your bubble recipe, you must try putting the solution in a kiddie pool, child stands in the center of the pool and the center of a hula hoop. Child can slowly pull the hula hoop and bubble up and they are inside!!!!!
Tried it wth my granddaughters. It works better than the bubbles juice that came with round wands.
Admirable!!! Such an amazing post with fun tips. Thanks a lot for sharing your moments. Keep posting, looking forward to more from you.
Thanks for sharing. What happens with left overs? do you store them for later use or throw it out?
It should be noted that if you have hard water it might not work very well. Or if it’s really hard, not at all! We had super hard water at my parents’ house and I tried to do a recipe like this for my daughter’s first birthday party, and not a single bubble worked! It wouldn’t even come off the wand without breaking! I kept adding more soap and more glycerin, but now that I know quite a bit about hard water, I’m almost positive it was that.
it is a good respic
