Brother’s Day
Have you ever thought about celebrating Brother’s Day? Maybe you’ve never heard of this holiday. We hadn’t either, so we decided to make up our own holiday. You celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, but what do your kids get? In an effort to encourage our family’s time together and strengthen bonds, we created Brother’s Day!
Why a Siblings Day?
We want to create traditions that encourage our family time together. We’re so busy in our normal life, that setting one day aside a year to celebrate each other is worth it! This family tradition strengthens their brotherly bond and they look forward to it all year! It also reinforces how much we love them.
When Do We Celebrate Brothers Day?
We learned the hard way that trying to celebrate their special day in the middle of the summer, was just too hard. It seemed random and we were distracted by life.
Moving forward we do not have a specific date, we just tell them it will happen when we’re on vacation. This allows us to really be focused on them and pour in good quality time. It also helps that we’re on vacation and in full “vacation-mode”, relaxed and fun.

What will Sibling Days look like for the future?
We ask them every year how they’d like to celebrate in the future and what their plans will be when they’re adults. They come up with hiking, traveling, the beach, Disney, etc.
Personally, now that I’m grown up, I love to spend time with my sister and cherish our special time just the two of us. I feel that our close relationship started when we were children.
We are hoping that our children will continue to celebrate Brother’s Day for a long time. As parents, we may be the main organizers of it now; however, we feel that helping foster healthy relationships pays big dividends in the end.

What a beautiful and sweet idea! We have five boys and it is so important to me that they grow up having an appreciation for one another.
